The Dutch working group consists of TNO and Hogeschool Rotterdam. The Dutch team is coordinated by TNO.

TNO (Netherlands Organization for Applied Scientific Research) is an independent research institute in the Netherlands. It focuses on applied science and innovation, bridging the gap between fundamental research and practical applications for industry, government, and society. The Energy & Materials Transition unit conducts among others research and development on industrial heat pumps aimed at developing and integrating high-temperature solutions for industrial processes to drive the energy transition and heat decarbonization. Core activities include system design, optimization, integration studies, simulation and modeling, as well as experimental validation of advanced systems. These efforts are part of multiple national and European R&D projects.

Hogeschool Rotterdam is a major university of applied sciences in the Netherlands with around 39,000 students and 4,000 staff members, spread across 15 locations throughout Rotterdam and offering approximately 100 bachelor’s, master’s, and associate degree programmes. It bridges engineering education, practice-oriented research, and industry through its Energy Transition Lab at the RDM Campus, delivering learning and innovation in fields such as heat pump technology, industrial decarbonization, and circular energy material systems. The Centre of Expertise HRTech, part Hogeschool Rotterdam deploys several projects and programmes with a large network of stakeholders, focusing on research, innovation, human capital agenda development, and upscaling of public-private partnerships for the Harbour-Industrial Complex of Rotterdam.
