Research work related to IoT and heat pumps:

The Competence Center Thermal Energy Systems and Process Engineering (CCTEVT) conducts applied R&D in the areas of energy systems, process integration as well as heat pumps and cooling systems. The CCTEVT team has been working for many years in the development of efficient heat pumps, for both residential and industrial applications. Based on field experience, heat pumps used for building heating often do not fully exploit their potential for higher efficiency due to incorrect controller settings. Digital operational analysis can be used to detect losses in efficiency and automatically correct the causes. The research team identifies the key operating parameters and metadata of the building to be used in the operational analysis and the calculation methods. The internet of things (IoT) and the digitalization of heat pumps are the basis for future developments of monitoring and optimization solutions for an efficient and smart operation of heat pumps.
