Research Work related to IoT and heat pumps:
EDF has been working on heat pumps for more than 35 years and has a recognized scientific knowledge of this technology.
EDF has specific laboratories (platform Climatron) equipped with the measurement and acquisition resources required to test the most common types of heat pumps under the most varied conditions: steady state under the conditions of the standards in force, transient regime simulating variations in heat requirements, etc. These laboratories have permitted to acquire solid experience in measuring heat pumps functioning.
EDF’s experience and knowledge of the various heat pump technologies is also based on:
– Steady-state modelling of heat pumps,
– Dynamic modelling of heat pump-building coupling for all types of heat pumps,
– Dynamic modelling of the ground/buried collector/building coupling for geothermal heat pumps,
– Design and production of heat pump prototypes
– Design and sizing of heat exchangers.
EDF activities in the field of heat pumps consist in:
- Technological developments
- Market knowledge
- Products evaluation
- Identification of innovations
EDF has also developed activities in the field of connected systems and associated services. EDF activities consist in converting new energy flexibilities into services:
- Explore new building energy and industrial process flexibilities
- Promote control and communication technologies
- Design control strategies and services to add value to these flexibilities
For these activities, EDF has 3 laboratories to :
- Design and test smart home, smart building and smart factory connected equipments
- Prepare tomorrow’s B2C and B2B energy service, for energy management and process optimization.
