About HPT TCP
Welcome to the Technology Collaboration Programme on Heat Pumping Technologies (HPT TCP) under the International Energy Agency (IEA), and to the Heat Pump Centre — the programme’s office and central hub for communication. Heat Pump Centre is an international information, communication and dialogue platform for heat pumping technologies, applications and markets. The goal is to accelerate the implementation of heat pumps and related heat pumping technologies, including air conditioning, dehumidification and refrigeration.
The HPT TCP is a member of the IEA International Energy Agency’s (IEA) Technology Collaboration Programme (TCP), which is a unique global network that drives cutting-edge energy technology research through international cooperation. The programme was founded in 1978. We have been active for several decades, which is a strength since a lot of knowledge and experiences has been generated during the years.
All participants in HPT TCP are member countries, represented by the country’s government, in some cases via a designated entity. This means that all people living in a member country are participants in the programme. We have 20 members in HPT TCP. Find our current member countries here.
The HPT TCP is a non-profit organization working in the field of heat pumping technologies, i.e., all technologies where heat is lifted from a lower temperature level to a higher one, such as heat pumps, air conditioning, and refrigeration. Under the management of an Executive Committee representing the member countries, the programme carries out a strategy to accelerate the use of heat pumping technologies in all applications where they can reduce energy consumption, increase the use of renewable energy sources, and contribute to energy security and affordable energy for all – for the benefit of people, the environment, and a sustainable future. The main activities within the programme is to run collaborative research, development, demonstration, and deployment projects, to organize a triennial conference, and to perform communication through the Heat Pump Centre, the Projects, and the National teams.
The Chairman of the Executive Committee is Stephan Renz.
