Micro Heat Pumps can play a significant role in combination with low temperature
district heating having three major advantages: high COP’s, eliminating the large heat losses in the distribution system and providing cooling during the summer season. Because the
proposed system operates at (the lowest possible) space heating temperatures, distribution losses can be much lower.
The authors discuss in this paper the technical and economical possibilities of an alternative system for collective heat supply for the build environment for several projects using a micro
heat pump for domestic hot water with a low temperature district heating as a heat source.
