MEASURED SPACE CONDITIONING AND WATER HEATING PERFORMANCE OF A GROUND-SOURCE INTEGRATED HEAT PUMP IN A RESIDENTIAL APPLICATION


In an effort to reduce residential building energy consumption, a ground-source integrated heat pump was developed to meet a home’s entire space conditioning and water
heating needs, while providing 50% energy savings relative to a baseline suite of minimum efficiency equipment. A prototype 7.0 kW system was installed in a 344 m2 research house with simulated occupancy in Oak Ridge, TN. The equipment was monitored from June 2012
through January 2013.
