Electric Heat Pumps for Retrofit in Existing Small Residential Buildings (Hydronic Systems) – Environmental Effects of Electric Heat Pump Application
An investigation of emissions and of local immissions (ground level concentrations) in urban situations is the primary objective of this report. The report also deals briefly with global long-term effects of emission such as the recently much discussed Ozone depletion in the stratosphere due to chlorofluorocarbon release, and the greenhouse effect on climate resulting from carbon dioxide emissions. In addition, environmental effect of the heat pump other than air pollution are mentioned, such as effects on water and ground, and noise emission. A brief account is given of the effect of heat extraction from ground and ground water. Leakage of brine or working fluid is discussed along with noise and air pollution.
