The combination of solar heat and ground-source heat pumps for residential buildings provides opportunities for optimising the use of renewable energy sources and minimising the amount of bought energy. Solar collectors in the system may improve the operational conditions of both the solar collectors and the heat pump. A project is in progress at Lund University in Sweden: the first part of the work has been reported. In the project, TRNSYS simulations have been made for different components, systems and energy balances for the Swedish climate and building conditions.
