Building HVAC Equipment Standards and Regulations – Workshop proceedings

The heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) industry must respond to a variety of demands from equipment purchasers and from society at large. Demands are made for higher energy efficiency, lower initial costs, lower environmental impact and better levels of comfort and air quality. In addition, the need to replace CFC and HCFC refrigerants has led to new concerns about safely, especially in the use of hydrocarbons and ammonia. National and international regulations and standards are put in place to address these issues and have a profound impact on the HVAC equipment market. Held on 27 February 1997 in Madrid, Spain, the wokshop "Building HVAC Equipment Regulations and Standards" provided a platform for the exchange of views and information on current and projected regulations and standards on energy efficiency, labelling, safety testing and rating.
