Research work on institutional level with focus on heat pumps and digitalization:

Sweden’s national team contributes to Project 67 through the PREMA-HEAPS project, which focuses on advancing the performance, reliability, and large-scale adoption of heat pump systems through digitalization and data-driven methods.

At the institutional level, the research emphasizes:

  • Predictive maintenance and fault detection in heat pump systems using machine learning and advanced analytics.
  • Digital performance monitoring and diagnostics, with particular attention to identifying sub-optimal operation and preventing unexpected system failures.
  • Measurement uncertainty analysis, assessing how data quality and sensor inaccuracies influence fault detection algorithms and system optimization.
  • Real-world validation and deployment, supported by industrial partners and demonstration sites in the Swedish building and energy sector.

The work is closely aligned with the objectives of the IEA Heat Pumping Technologies Collaboration Programme, supporting improved operational reliability, higher efficiency, and accelerated uptake of heat pumps in line with long-term climate and energy targets.
