IEA HPT Project 65 will take part in the upcoming Chillventa Congress 2026 with a workshop dedicated to circularity in the residential heat pump value chain.
The Chillventa Congress is an international knowledge-sharing event bringing together experts from research, industry and practice in the fields of refrigeration, air conditioning, ventilation and heat pump technologies. It takes place on Monday 12 October 2026 at the Exhibition Centre Nuremberg in Germany.
The workshop will present the main results from Task 3, which explored how different stakeholders across the residential heat pump value chain perceive the circularity potential of heat pump components. The work investigated which components are considered most relevant to recover at end-of-life, which are perceived as the most difficult to disassemble, and which R-strategies show the greatest potential for retaining components and materials in use. The results also provide insights into the main opportunities, incentives and barriers that can support or hinder the transition towards a more circular heat pump industry.
The workshop will also provide an introduction to Task 4, which builds on the findings from Task 3 and focuses on the development of more practical guidance for the dismantling, processing and circular treatment of heat pump components.
