Final Webinar – IEA HPT Project 63: Placement Impact on Heat Pump Acoustics

🗓️ Wednesday, December 2nd | 11:30–13:30 CEST | Online

After three years of international collaboration, IEA HPT Project 63 “Placement Impact on Heat Pump Acoustics” is reaching its conclusion. Join the consortium for the final webinar, where the full set of results will be presented and discussed.

Noise emissions remain one of the main barriers to faster heat pump deployment, particularly in dense urban and residential settings. Project 63 was established as the follow-up to Annex 51 “Acoustic Signatures of Heat Pumps” to tackle these acoustic market barriers directly: reducing adverse noise impacts and improving acceptance, while preserving high energy efficiency and including the increasingly relevant case of cooling-mode operation.

Over its runtime (June 2023 to September 2026), the project advanced work across five areas:

  • Building acoustics impact of heat pumps
  • Urban acoustics impact of heat pumps
  • Psychoacoustics of heat pumps
  • Digitally assisted heat pump placement
  • Dissemination

The webinar will cover the project’s key outcomes, including the acoustic database for air-to-water heat pumps, the 2D and 3D placement tools, psychoacoustic findings, and the revised installation guidance linked to the developed placement tools. These results feed directly into standards development and into practical guidance for installers, planners, and manufacturers.

Lead country: Austria (Operating Agent: Christoph Reichl, AIT)
Participating countries: France, Germany, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Italy, Sweden, and Switzerland

This is the closing opportunity to engage with the consortium, see the consolidated deliverables, and discuss how the placement tools and guidelines can support quieter, faster heat pump rollout.

📋 Agenda, registration, and Zoom link will follow soon.
