On September 10, 2025, the AIT Austrian Institute of Technology in Vienna, in cooperation with the University of Innsbruck and AEE INTEC, hosted the workshop “Heat Pumps in Positive Energy Districts”. The aim was to discuss current research results and practical experiences regarding the integration of heat pumps into energy-optimized neighbourhood solutions. Fabian Ochs, project manager of the national FFG project IEA HPT A61 at the University of Innsbruck, contributed his expertise from the “Towards” PED Innsbruck Campaign and showed how innovative heat pump technologies can contribute to achieving plus-energy goals.
In addition to international results from IEA HPT Project 61, which were presented by Operating Agent Carsten Wemhöner, concrete implementation examples such as asphalt collectors and hybrid LSC systems were also presented. The event provided a platform for exchange between research, planning and implementation and concluded with discussions on further spread of heat pumps in Austria.
The workshop was held in German language.
Presentations in German can be found at Publications
