Results on grid system comparisons have been presented on the 4th International Sustainable Energy conference ISEC 2026 entitled “Shaping the Future of Sustainable Energy Systems” on 14-16 April in Graz by Prof. Dr. Fabian Ochs.

The study compares different grid concepts based on an analysis of 11 districts and concludes on favourable integration options for different boundary conditions. Based on the evaluation a work flow for district planning based on cost optimal design as outlined in the EU Energy Performance of Buildings Directive and basic planning and design recommendations have been derived in order to achieve a high energy performance in new built districts or existing districts to be transformed to higher energy performance.

The conference is among other organized by AEE Intec, a collaborating institution of the Austrian national team in Project 61.
