The Flexi-Sync project has gathered academics and industry representafives
with a shared vision to increase and opfimize the use of both demand and
supply side flexibility in district heafing and cooling systems – an invaluable
asset to aftain energy system decarbonizafion. The types of flexibility
considered in the project are:
i) Combined heat and power plants, heat pumps, the district heafing network,
and centralized thermal energy storages on the supply side.
ii) Individual heat pumps and thermal inerfia of buildings serving as storage on
the demand side.
One of the goals was to demonstrate implementafions of opfimized flexibility
at the demo sites in the project. The primary method for achieving this has
been to develop a cloud-based solufion that handles the end-to-end (end-user
to energy company) opfimisafion and ufilise it in the tests at the demo sites.
The work was mainly performed by project partners Ufilifeed and NODA in
close collaborafion with the demo site partners.
