In the year 2022, it was reported that over 200,000 HPs were sold in the country, following a climbing trend in sales with the country\u2019s roughly 2.2 million HPs sold since 1980.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"container container--no-margin\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph \">Of the residential HPs, approximately 400,000 single family houses utilize ground source to satisfy demands, according to the same report. Therefore, Sweden\u2019s commitment to HPT TCP Project 66 offers essential insight into these Ground Source HP (GSHP) technologies, with areas of research at <strong>KTH Royal Institute of Technology<\/strong>, Sweden\u2019s largest technical university, assisting the project scope of collecting vast HP designs and operations.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"container container--no-margin\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph \">Significant research progress in the Department of Energy Technology at KTH has been made in the GSHP space, covering topics from integrated GSHP, photovoltaic\/thermal, and low-temperature heating systems to capacity control for GSHPs. Their long-term performance measurements of GSHPs not only focus on small residential buildings, but also address multi-family housing, densely populated areas, and commercial applications. These applications extend to all types of practical ground sources for GSHP measurements and data, including rock, soil, groundwater, and surface water. Analysis procedures and case studies also highlight where performance can be improved for these GSHPs. Finally, KTH has investigated improved borehole technologies for geothermal HPs to increase efficiency and help satisfy the legislative requirements of emission reductions.
