Invitation to Webinar: Outcomes of HPT TCP Annex 54 - Heat Pump Systems with Low Global Warming Potential (GWP) Refrigerants

Organizer: Yunho Hwang, University of Maryland

You are cordially invited to participate in our upcoming webinar scheduled for Tuesday, June 11th, from 13:00 to 15:00 CEST. This event will delve into the outcomes of the HPT TCP Annex 54, focusing on “Heat pump systems with low Global Warming Potential (GWP) refrigerants.” Join us to gain valuable insights into the latest research, product development, and regulatory status surrounding low-GWP refrigerants for heat pump applications.

Background:

IEA Annex 54 aims to promote the low-GWP refrigerant application to accelerate the phase-down of high-GWP HFCs through in-depth case studies of component optimization, providing design guidelines and real-world experiences.

About the webinar and objective:

This webinar is organized by the IEA HPT’s ANNEX54: Heat Pumps with Low GWP Refrigerants. Our webinar goal is to disseminate our outcome of ANNEX54 activities.  This webinar will provide an update on the following topics:

  • Assessment of refrigerant thermophysical properties and heat transfer performance (flow boiling and condensation), energy performance (heating capacity and COP), and environmental performance (LCCP) of heat pumps with low GWP refrigerants;
  • Optimization of heat pump components and systems using low-GWP refrigerants;
  • Research activities in residential heat pumps and water heaters with low GWP alternative refrigerants;
  • Low charge R290 heat pump development, market data, and safety topics;

Agenda:

1. Introduction: Annex54 Summary for Heat Pumps with Low GWP Refrigerants, Yunho Hwang

2. France country report, Julien Ballou.

3. Germany country report, Thore Oltersdorf and Christian Vering

4. Italy country report, Luca Molinaroli.

5. Sweden country report, Björn Palm.

6. United States country report, Lei Gao.
