HPT TCP by IEA Publishes 2024 Annual Report
We are pleased to announce the release of the Annual Report 2024 for the Technology Collaboration Programme on Heat Pumping Technologies (HPT TCP) by IEA. Among the highlights of this year’s report are important developments in heat pump technologies and their expanding role in the global clean energy transition. As part of the IEA’s Technology Collaboration Programme, our mission is to enhance heat pumping technologies for heating, cooling, and refrigeration applications through international collaboration and knowledge exchange.
The report showcases key initiatives and achievements, including the launch of new international collaboration projects such as HPT Project 66: Optimal Heat Pump Design and Operation and HPT Project 65: Heat Pumps in a Circular Economy. It also covers the increasing integration of digitalization, artificial intelligence, and multi-vector energy systems within heat pump applications.
Three international collaboration projects within HPT TCP (called annexes) were successfully finalized during the year, and the final reports were published on the website and promoted via webinars:
- HPT Annex 54: Heat Pump Systems with Low Global Warming Potential (GWP) Refrigerants
- HPT Annex 57: Flexibility by Implementation of Heat Pumps in Multi-Vector Energy Systems and Thermal Networks
- HPT Annex 58: High-Temperature Heat Pumps
In addition to this, the progress within all the ongoing collaboration projects are described in the annual report.
2024 has marked an important milestone, with heat pumps featured prominently in several flagship reports from the International Energy Agency (IEA), including the Energy Technology Perspectives 2024 and the World Energy Outlook 2024. Moreover, prominent work has been done within several of the newly launched IEA TCP Coordination Groups and HPT TCP has contributed actively to many of them.
We invite you to explore the full report to learn more about our projects, international collaborations, and the future of sustainable heating and cooling solutions.
