Research work related to drying and heat pumps:
Oak Ridge National Laboratory delivers scientific discoveries and technical breakthroughs needed to realize solutions in energy and national security that provide economic benefits to the United States. As a US Department of Energy (DOE) national lab, ORNL is part of a network that possesses a range of cross-cutting capabilities that enable solutions for a range of industrial and commercial applications. The Oak Ridge National Laboratory brings in expertise in heat pump research especially industrial heat pumps targeting supply temperatures higher than 150°C; heat pump clothes dryers; combined platforms (integrated energy storage solutions); and waste heat recovery systems.
EPRI is a non-profit energy R&D organization with offices around the world. EPRI’s energy research portfolio offers collaborative projects, customized research opportunities, thought leadership, and innovation to help energy companies simultaneously decarbonize the energy sector while maintaining a resilient, reliable, and affordable power system on which society depends. EPRI is working towards advancing safe, reliable, affordable, and clean energy for society through global collaboration, science, and technology innovation, and applied research. As part of its R&D portfolio, EPRI focuses on innovative heating and cooling technologies including advanced heat pumps, high temperature industrial heat pumps and heating/drying technologies. The organisation will provide publicly available results from research & demonstration projects including recommendations for the design of heat pump drying systems regarding performance, costs etc. and comparisons with conventional dryers.
