On the 5th of October 2017 experts on policy making, energy networks, heatpump manufacturers and reputed knowledge institutes from France, United Kingdom, Italy, Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands share the latest insights and knowledge on the implementation of hybrid heat pumps in domestic housing.

The IEA Technology Collaboration Programme on Heat Pumping Technologies, HPT TCP, has authorized a knowledge development project on the topic of Hybrid Heat Pumps. This project – HPT TCP Annex 45 – is now well under way: participants from 6 different countries are working together to establish the current market situation, best market development opportunities and policy recommendations. Combining the features of a heat pump and a traditional boiler, hybrid heat pumps are especially suited to bring renewable heat production to existing houses. The goal of Annex 45 is to chart and develop the market for hybrid systems.
To accelerate our knowledge build-up, we will organize an expert meeting in Utrecht (Netherlands) at 5 October 2017, 9:00 – 17:00. We want to bring together experts from several organisations and fields: grid operators, researchers, policy makers, manufacturers, building/housing organisations, installers, industry representatives, standards organisations etc.
You are invited to join this meeting and contribute to the progress of the project and to help sharing information and expertise. With your participation, we will be able to make a leap forward towards our project goals. As a participant, you will have the opportunity to share knowledge, extend your international network and learn from other experts in the field.
The meeting itself will have an open character, facilitating intense exchange of ideas and views.
A preliminary list of topics includes:
- Which social issues do hybrid heat pumps solve? [i.e. the ‘social business case’]
- What are the main barriers for large scale hybrid heat pump application?
- How can we stimulate policy interest in hybrid heat pumps?
- Can we quantify the contribution of hybrid heat pumps to sustainability and CO2-goals?
- What is inform and convince house owners of the opportunities with hybrid heat pumps?
